Final Election Results from Municipal Election 2008 - Three New Arcata City Councilmembers: Michael Winkler (28.62%), Shane Brinton (20.35%) and Susan Ornelas (19.56%). Measures F (72.59%) and G (63.49%) both passed. Council will ratify the certified election results and seat the new Councilmembers on December 9th at noon in the Council Chamber.  Read More>
 


Home Energy Efficiency Loans Available - The City of Arcata was awarded funds from the State Department of Housing and Community Development to assist low income families in Arcata. The Community Development Department is now accepting applications for low interest loans for low income Arcata homeowners to make energy efficiency upgrades. Read More>  



New K9 Handler Chosen for Arcata's Second Patrol Dog.  APD will have a new K9 team working in the community by April 2009. The City of Arcata, incorporated in 1858, is nestled on the northern coast of California, amid redwood forests, Humboldt Bay, and the Pacific Ocean; approximately 760 miles north of Los Angeles and 275 miles north of San Francisco. The nearest seaport is Eureka, five miles south on Humboldt Bay.
